Today, at 12:25am Station 64 was alerted to assist Station 62 on a reported apartment building fire in the 1900 block of West Summer Lane, East Coventry Township. Captain 64, Engine 64-5, and Engine 64-2 responded to assist. Assistant 62 arrived on the scene requesting a hand-line to the rear of the building and established command. Engine 64-5 arrived on the scene as the first due engine, stretching an attack line to the rear of the building and began fire suppression. Engine 64-2 arrived immediately after as the second due engine and began laddering the rear of the building and checking for extension in the affected apartment. Engine 62-1 arrived shortly after and assisted Engine 64-5’s crew. Montco Tower 51 sent its crew to the roof of the building in case ventilation was needed. Firefighters from Station 64, 62, and Montco 51 worked together to ensure all fire was extinguished and overhaul was completed before the assignment was made available. 64 units would remain on the scene for approximately 1 hour before returning to quarters. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
