December 15, 2024

Tonight at 4:03pm Station 64 was dispatched to the 1000 block of Country Walk Drive for reports of a Carbon Monoxide Activation. Rescue 64, Engine 64-5, Engine 64-2 & Chief 64 made the response. Once on location crews found an active CO issue in the home. Crews worked to ensure no one remained in the residence before locating and isolating the cause of the CO leak. Shortly after the source of the issues was determined to be the heater in the basement crews secured the heater and conducted “positive pressure ventilation” to remove the remaining CO while monitoring oxygen levels before turning the home back over to the residents. Crews operated for approximately an hour before returning to quarters.

Did you know carbon monoxide is a poisonous gas that has no taste, smell or color? It is dubbed the “silent killer” due to it being impossible to detect without proper detectors. Norco Fire Company would like to remind all of you how critical it is to make sure your smoke & CO detectors are in good working order at all times!
